At Sports Turf Services, deep tine aeration is our flagship solution, helping golf course superintendents and athletic field managers break through compaction layers and restore proper water movement through the rootzone. All our services are performed with Turf Guards, ensuring minimal surface disruption and eliminating the need for post-aeration repair work.
Our Redexim machines we use are designed for precision deep aeration on Greens & Tees, relieving soil compaction, promoting gas exchange, and creating optimal conditions for deep root growth. These aerators ensure minimal surface disruption with minimal to no damage.
Why Deep Tine?
The Verti-Drain deep tine method is ideal for breaking up hardpan layers, especially in sand-based rootzones that have been locked up due to years of shallow aeration. It reestablishes vertical drainage, allowing water to move through the soil profile more efficiently.
When to Deep Tine:
- Fall (Pre-Winter/Hurricane Season Prep): Clears compaction and enhances drainage ahead of heavy rain periods.
- Spring: Sets up your greens for summer survival by improving water movement and avoiding soggy or saturated rootzones.
Common Signs You Need It:
- Water puddles within 5 minutes of overhead irrigation.
- Water sitting for prolonged periods on the collar dams.
- Greens stay wet and soft for extended periods.
- Bentgrass suffering from summer decline or Bermudagrass showing poor winter recovery

Greens Hollow Core Deep Tine
